What is Colposcopy?

The colposcope magnifies the area, allowing the clinician to examine it. If necessary, a biopsy is taken. The procedure is generally well-tolerated, with minimal discomfort.
When is Colposcopy Needed?
Colposcopy is typically recommended when:
A Pap smear result is abnormal, indicating potential cervical cell changes.
A human papilloma virus (HPV) test is positive, as certain HPV strains are linked to cervical cancer.
